    So far......

    Registered Clinical Counsellor #16441

My careers in counselling and education stem from my love of people and their personal narrative. I moved to the North Shore, on the West Coast of Canada from the UK in 2006, where my passion for people and their stories continue to be a great source of inspiration and where I choose to commit my time and energy. Over the years I have worked with children, youth, adults and families, helping them navigate their way through difficult situations and unfamiliar territory. It is fascinating how our personal narratives have the power to propel us forward as we navigate through life, or adversely keep us rooted in one spot. I have found that exploring story authentically with a client, and creating transparency in the counselling sessions can unlock hidden paths to a more balanced, vital and meaningful life.

With life comes change. Sometimes we are the initiators of change and sometimes we are the recipients. Viewing change as an opportunity to further areas of personal development has enabled me to offer support in the areas of separation and divorce from a strength based perspective.

Based in West Vancouver, I can offer sessions in a beautiful counselling space in Dundarave, and home visits are possible. I am also happy to offer virtual sessions.

    Navigating Experience

    Life

My own life experiences bring me to a place of empathy and understanding making me a compassionate, non judgmental companion in the counselling space. My experience of working in a recovery centre and school settings has allowed me to connect with the complex lives of adults, students, parents and their families. My expertise ranges from addressing issues around anxiety, PTSD, loneliness, depression, grief and relationships, to name but a few. I like to work together with individuals to explore obstacles, and develop tools for life in the pursuit of mental wellness and life balance.

    Creative Approaches

    Inspiration

I like to combine creative influences with evidence based approaches in order to make the counselling sessions meaningful. It is rarely the same thing that will resonate for everyone. I utilize a range of creative inspiration to explore emotions, and offer the client a variety of evocative ways to bring about new understandings. I have experience in Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative Therapy and Bibliotherapy.

    New Perspectives

    Change

There is nothing like an 'a-ha' moment when you realize that you actually had the answers all along, and that you just weren't looking in the right places. New perspectives are a lifelong endeavor and navigating them sometimes takes a little help.

  • Acknowledgements

I owe a great debt to the courageous people who have shared their stories and invited me to help them navigate new perspectives and understandings about themselves. You know who you are .....
